WE BELIEVE IN THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF BEING WELL…
Alafia Wellbeing is a wellness initiative designed to elevate the mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing of Black women and girls. We believe in the transformative power of BEingwell, sisterhood, and intentional living.
Rooted in the principles of healing generational patterns that no longer serve us, self-love and care, restoration, and empowerment, we provide experiences, retreats, and stoke conversations that address the unique wellbeing needs of Black women and girls.
Alafia Wellbeing provides a safe space ,where they can focus on their wellbeing, access teachers, services and products that reflect their unique wellbeing needs and cultural heritage.
Through thoughtfully curated events, workshops, and retreats, Alafia fosters opportunities for healing, growth, and joy. Each offering is tailored to address the specific challenges and barriers to self-care, faced by Black women and girls , while celebrating their resilience, creativity, and power. From mindfulness practices and holistic health workshops to culturally grounded wellness rituals and community connection, Alafia ensures that self-care is accessible, inclusive, and deeply nourishing.
The name "Alafia," meaning ‘peace" and wellbeing’ in Yoruba, reflects our mission to cultivate wellbeing.
Whether it's through ou annual I Am Retreat, our worthshops© or LIVE events, Alafia Wellbeing stands as a platform to elevate the wellbeing of Black women and girls, by prioritising their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, providing them tools to thrive, heal, and flourish in a world that often overlooks their needs…
Meet Our Founder
Welcome to Alafia Wellbeing!
I’m Amanda - certified Meditation and Wellbeing Coach and Retreat Curator. I have held space for an array of women within the wellness space, for almost a decade now, hosting retreats and masterclasses, all with meditation at the centre.
One of the things that stands out to me amongst my Black sisters, is the evident generational patterns they have inherited that hinder their wellbeing. Patterns that prevent them from putting themselves first, place a barrier between them and their healing and instill the negative self-belief that they need to be strong all the time, as it’s what the women before us did!
I have founded Alafia, to create safe spaces that, stoke positive dialogue and host transformative events and retreats, that are accessible and are a pathway to letting go of those said patterns, so that we and the next generation of Black women fully overstand what it is to BE well and how to practice wellbeing on our own terms.
